Our Vision:
Children belong outside exploring, moving and creating. Nature Sessions are designed around the child - celebrating their natural curiosity and meeting them where they’re at. Each child is held and loved just as they are. Nature Sessions have been created with a blend of Waldorf, Montessori, Unschooling and Wild schooling - with an emphasis on holding space in a child-centered way, our intent and hope is that every child can have the opportunity to access learning in this inclusive, safe and fun outdoor way.
It is our hope to develop enough traction with this 1st 4-week Nature Session to bring a 2nd 4-week Nature Session and eventually create a year around program this fall to help our homeschooling/alternative educational based families have a solid support network to rely on.
What to Expect: Each Child-Lead Nature-Based Session will consist of Outdoor Movement Games - a time to be loud and move. Movement will be followed by a space for quiet reflection exploring the beautiful Crossroad trails and creeks observing all that changes in nature over each 4-week session. Following a Nature Based Snack (included), we’ll settle down in an Outdoor space to create the Arts & Crafts opportunity for the day.
Your children will be outdoor rain or shine (with the exception of thunder/lightning). Please dress your children according to the weather and expect them to come home dirty. If you’d like your children to have sunscreen, bug spray, raincoat/sweatshirt, rain boots, water bottle, etc, please make sure to pack whatever they need for each 3 hour stretch. We will have their snack covered!
Our daily class formatting is flexible based on what each group of children are needing that day.

Devoted to elevating the consciousness of humanity, Katrina is a passionate Homeschooling Mother and Light Worker - offering her children an alternative, outdoor-based way of learning. This blended way of teaching consists of techniques from backgrounds in: Waldorf, Montessori, Unschooling and Wild Schooling. It is her hope that every child can access this way of learning.
With a love for children, art and everything outdoors, Katrina became an aunt at 12 and quickly learned the world of the child felt most important for her to protect. And yet, it didn’t seem our society was doing a good job at that. This realization led to sculpting her life’s mission – awaken the consciousness of humanity for our Future Generations. This dream eventually highlighted a move to Oregon where she worked with many different children; volunteering and leading classes at Birth-3 & local churches, nannying many families, working professionally with traumatized children as well as teaching in the extreme outdoor wilderness of the PNW. Katrina studied Spiritual Science and Anthroposophy in Eugene, becoming a Certified Waldorf Teacher in 2014 before her path led to Bend, OR where she became an AASI & PSIA certified and awarded Ski/Snowboard Instructor in 2016.
It wasn’t until Katrina became a mother in 2019 that she was ignited with the motivation to blend all these alternative learning modalities together to create a vision of what that something better for our future generations could look like. With a continued love for learning, Katrina recently became a trauma conscious teacher and is currently enrolled in Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training. With native roots here in Door County, Katrina believes whole-heartedly in building this nature-based learning legacy for every child in our community to have access to.
Shane was raised in the vast wilderness of the Pacific Northwest. Starting outdoor leadership at 18, Shane began a continual lifelong career path around his love for nature. Leading many multiweek programs in numerous, diverse, outdoor environments, Shane turns muddy boots and bug hunts into moments of awe and wonder.
In Oregon, Shane studied Forestry with a focus on Wild-land Fire Science. After college, he fought wild-land fire for 10 seasons achieving high (FFT1/ITC type 5) qualifications. Since moving to Wisconsin nearly 7 years ago, he’s pursued more nature studies receiving Arborist Certifications through the International Society of Arboriculture. In the winter, Shane shifts focus to professionally teaching snowboarding. As an AASI Certified Instructor for over 20 years, Shane is an incredible teacher striving to make each student feel seen and appreciated. Continuing his educational journey, Shane is also on the Educational Staff for the Central Region of AASI, which essentially means he’s now teaching the teachers.
Specializing in helping children build skills progressively, Shane believes in guided discovery. Passionate in turning every trail into a story and every puddle into a science lesson, Shane emphasizes growth through hands on activities where Fun + Safety = Learning. Parents appreciate Shane’s calm and encouraging style. While kids enjoy his silly and inclusive leadership on the trail.
Shane is a dad of 3 and an older brother of 7. He has always loved leading nature-based explorations in camping, fishing, hunting, foraging and just about anything to do with being outside. Shane is excited to help your child discover the joys of nature, rain or shine.
